Dan Sommer

Managing Partner and founder

 

Dan is an EdTech entrepreneur with a proven track record of building companies from start up through successful exit. As Managing Partner and Founder of 10X Impact, he invests in and advises EdTech + Future of Work companies from pre seed through Series A. Dan's passion is to serve as a coach and accountability partner to high potential founders and entrepreneurs who are impacting the future of learning and earning.

Prior to starting 10X, Dan founded and served as CEO of Trilogy Education (considered to be the fastest growing EdTech company at the time), a Workforce Accelerator that partners with the world's leading universities to help companies bridge the digital skills gap. Under Dan’s leadership, the company grew to 50 University partners in 55 locations globally, 2500 employees, and over $150M in sales. Trilogy was acquired by 2U, Inc. for $750M.

Prior to founding Trilogy, Dan served as Zeta Global’s (NYSE: ZETA) President of Global Education where he led the company’s growth and expansion within the education sector, integrated strategic acquisitions and increased revenue by 4.5X in a 12 month period through portfolio and client expansion. While at Zeta, Dan also served as President of Interactive and President of International, increasing revenue by 3X in each unit. Prior to Zeta, Dan served as CEO and Chairman of Study Interactive an Innovative International OPM provider that partners with Universities to bring their programs online and to students in 153 countries.

Dan’s previous entrepreneurial successes include serving as Founder and CEO of higher education focused social media marketing firm Caridan Marketing Labs which was acquired in 2010 by Zeta Global, and serving as a Founding Executive at Zustek Corporation, one of the earliest email service providers (Acquired by Zeta Interactive, and later Zeta Global). Dan began his career at top digital agencies, Digitas and Sapient.

Dan is a graduate of Cornell University (BS) and New York University (MS).
